From June 12 to 28, De Markten presents ‘Bernard Van Eeghem is’, an exhibition about the life and work of the Brussels artist Bernard Van Eeghem (1953-2024). The vernissage takes place on Thursday, June 11. Bernard Van Eeghem passed away at the age of 70, on August 18, 2024. Until a few days before his death, he worked tirelessly on an impressive body of work. After his death, never-before-seen works appeared in his studio and archives: paintings, drawings, sketches, notes and a number of large works. Together with pieces from private collections, they form the starting point for this exhibition, curated by Arthur Van Eeghem, Lola Dirkx and Hanneke Broucke.
