Lampje lives with her father in a lighthouse. Her father is a lighthouse keeper, has only one leg, and is a drunkard. Lampje regularly has to help keep the lighthouse burning. On a stormy day, things go wrong: the lamp does not light. A ship crashes against the rocks and the municipality wants to take action. For her own good, Lampje is placed away from her father in the Zwarte Huis. Het Zwarte Huis is a castle owned by a sea captain. No one wants to work there because a monster lives there. Maar Lampje does not believe in monsters. Loosely based on the award-winning book by Annet Schaap.
