An unusual combination of jazz and chamber music by one of the most versatile musicians in Belgian jazz.
De Brsselse guitarist Benjamin Sauzereau is one of the most respected musicians in Belgian jazz and is active across the entire spectrum, from elegant jazz to spicy improvisation. He recently wrote a large number of compositions that he is presenting under the name 'REMORQUE', with various line-ups. A bit like John Zorn with his Masada compositions.
What they have in common is an ingenious exploration of composition, improvisation, and arrangement. It usually concerns short but lively pieces of music with a wealth of colors and atmospheres. Sometimes lyrical and thoughtful, other times frivolous, playful, or a bit prickly. Each composition is a small, unique world full of ingenuity, refinement, and space, performed by musicians straddling the line between classical and improvisation.
The new album marks the next chapter in the REMORQUE series on WERF Records.
Benjamin Sauzereau presents a series of his own compositions in which the addition of clarinet enriches the ensemble and gives the music a powerful, refined, and evocative chamber music sound.
On the occasion of the album release, Remorque will go on tour in March and April 2027.
