De Duitse neighborhood around the Harmoniepark in Antwerp

Since the end of May 2021, you can find the Antwerp city counters in the new district house in Harmonie Park. A great opportunity to get to know the history of this neighborhood, which used to be known as 'the German corner', better. Although not the largest foreign community, the ‘ German colony ‘ of Antwerp around 1900 was definitely the most visible. The largest influx can be seen from 1863 with the redemption of the Scheldt toll, which was supported internationally. German families did not only settle in Antwerp.
