Founded in 2012 by pianist-composer Samir Bendimered, the Sawt Ensemble is reinventing itself today in a highly inspired quintet. In residence at Arsonic, it explores an audacious artistic gesture: reappropriating great jazz standards by adorning them with the Arabic language. Summertime becomes Kana El Sayf, Strange Fruit turns into Achjar Al Janoub. Where swing meets maqam, Amal Sdiri's voice guides a journey between the East and jazz fusion.
