Monetary Diversity Gathering

ven. 23 oct. 2026 · 09:00
La Tricoterie, Brussels
Le Monetary Diversity Gathering II is the largest international gathering dedicated to monetary innovation. Organized by the Monetary Diversity network (MoDi) — which brings together over 70 partner organizations in 31 countries — this event brings together policymakers, researchers, municipal elected officials, practitioners, and financial innovators in Brussels for three days of concrete work, strategic exchanges, and partnership building. This is not a traditional conference. Every session is designed to produce results — action frameworks, practical tools, policy recommendations, and partnerships initiated between actors who are finally meeting in the same room. Friday, October 24 — Municipal & Public Currencies The opening day is entirely dedicated to local, municipal, and public currencies. It brings together elected officials, public finance professionals, legal experts, and organizations with concrete experience in deploying territorial monetary tools. On the program: → State of the art of municipal monetary innovation in Europe → Roundtable with representatives from the business world and local economy → Practical presentation of monetary resilience solutions by organizations that have already implemented these solutions on the ground → Institutional dialogue on regulatory frameworks necessary for scaling up Evening — Projection de Finding Money at the Cinema Nova Le Friday evening, Full Pass holders are invited to the screening of the documentary Finding Money at the Cinema Nova (center of Brussels) — a film that plunges the spectator into the heart of communities and practitioners who are already reinventing how money circulates. Followed by a discussion with speakers from the film and a reception with drinks. Saturday, October 25 — Complementary Currencies & Systemic Change The second day builds on a decade of documented experimentation to answer a simple question: what works, what scales, and what does the data tell us? On the program: → Opening keynote on the state of complementary currencies in Europe → Case studies: time banks, mutual credit systems, vouchers, local currencies → Practical workshops in thematic working groups → Sessions on systemic advocacy and the political frameworks necessary for the institutional recognition of complementary currencies MDG II Evening — "Money" Soirée Le Saturday evening, all Full Pass holders are officially invited to the official MDG II evening — a friendly and festive moment to continue conversations in a more relaxed setting. The place where partnerships are truly born. Sunday, October 26 — Bioregional Finance & Future of Money The third day opens the conversation toward the emerging frontiers of monetary innovation with an initiatives market. → Closing plenary: commitments, next steps, and perspectives for the network The day ends with an informal networking moment — the last drink together before leaving with new ideas, new contacts, and a renewed vision of what money can be.
