Has Pourquoi Bruxelles taken on the role of European capital? We take you on a journey through time. From the bucolic Etterbeek before the 19th century, where the Brussels elite lived in luxurious and vast mansions, to the 19th century, and until the 50s, when the European Union decided to settle there, we take you into the history and geography of a unique neighborhood! During this walk, you will discover: – The remains of the Eggevoorde Estate from the 16th and 17th centuries; – Le Zoo de Bruxelles; – The "City of Sciences" founded by Ernest Solvay (where the famous Solvay conferences took place); – The former studio and house of the painter Paul Parmentier, an incredible example of neo-Gothic construction; – The most important European institutions; – …and much more.
