Michal has a successful job, but the pressure at work keeps mounting. One morning, he drops off his young daughter Dominika at daycare and plunges into a hectic workday. Commentaar Father centers on the immensely chilling but unfortunately all-too-real ''Forgotten Baby Syndrome'', and is furthermore specifically based on the life of one of the best friends of screenwriter Dušan Budzak. It gives a painfully personal note to an already deeply tragic story. Tereza Nvotová (who won awards in 2022 for her film The Siren) directs with a lot of flair and empathy, and does not think in terms of perpetrators or victims. The nagging feeling that remains is that this situation — unfortunately — could happen to anyone. The film premiered in Venice last year. Especially the central acting performance of Milan Ondrík was widely praised.
