For this special try-out, Naragonia comes to Aarschot with an expanded line-up. In addition to their familiar sound, a brass and rhythm section provides extra depth and dynamics.
The Ship of Fools brings a musical program about the sea and the life of sailors. The title refers to the medieval image of “Naragonia” as an imaginary land where fool ships sailed to. That fact forms the common thread throughout a varied set, with stilled ballads, narrative songs, and more energetic pieces.
For more than twenty years, Naragonia has been active on international stages. In 2024, they received the award for Beste Live Band at the Flanders Folk Awards. Their music moves between folk, jazz, and world music, with attention to both tradition and quirky arrangements.
Eight musicians are on stage together and bring a rich and nuanced sound palette.
