Internationale Dag of the Archive in the Tienen city archives

During the ‘Internationale Dag of the Archive’ on Tuesday, June 9, '26, we are opening the doors of our city archive. Take a look behind the scenes and discover how the city archive works and how we aim to preserve and make our archival heritage visible. On June 9, '26, we are introducing the residents of Tienen to the city archive. Within the city administration, the city archive staff act as information managers for the municipal services. They register how digital and paper information carriers are created or received within the city, and subsequently used, reused, registered, and preserved or destroyed. As a city, we manage a great deal of data belonging to residents, so it is also our responsibility to handle it correctly. In addition, the city archive functions as the written memory of the city and custodian of the archival heritage. During the ‘Internationale Dag of the Archive’, visitors can discover the city archive through two expeditions.
