“Klee dreams Bach” a visual organ spectacle

Together with video artist Marcel Wierckx and musician/organizer Peter Ouwerkerk, organist Luc Ponet brings a spectacular performance in which the age-old desire to unite music and visual art is brought to life, with poetry and artificial intelligence as two extra, surprising ingredients. During the performance, music by Johann Sebastian Bach will be played live on the organ, including parts from Bachs Musikalisches Opfer. At the same time, fascinating images will become visible, based on paintings by Paul Klee, which literally come to life on and around the front of the organ. The result is a colorful concert, presented as a polyphonic composition in which music, image, and word flow together. Between the compositions of Bach, a third layer will sound: a soundscape generated by artificial intelligence that connects the works with each other and makes the concert one continuous whole. In addition, two new compositions will be performed: a soundscape based on the poem “The silence of the world before Bach” by Lars Gustafsson and a new audiovisual composition for organ, created with the help of AI techniques. Marcel Wierckx, who is internationally considered a pioneer in the application of these technologies within audiovisual art, designed and provides the live-projected image and the soundscapes during the performance. The organist is, as already mentioned above, Luc Ponet. Admission is free
