Expo: Paradise Lost Exposition

Expo: Paradise Lost

sam. 5 sept. 2026 · 10:00
Plantentuin Meise, Meise
Step into a world where glass and iron gave shape to a dream: a personal Garden of Eden. Paradise Lost? takes you back to the 19th century, an era of discovery, exotic plants and visionary architecture. Yesterday meets today The focus is on Alphonse Balat, master of light and transparency, glass and metal, and an inspiration to figures such as Victor Horta. His conservatories and pavilions were not only technical masterpieces, but also gateways to a new understanding of nature and beauty. At the same time, the exhibition looks to the future: have we lost our connection with nature, or are we rediscovering it today? And what does that mean for the way we build, preserve and admire? Let yourself be carried away by art, architecture and botanical imagination, alongside artists such as François Schuiten, Hans Soenen and Piet Bekaert+, and Studio Bast Smets, and discover whether paradise is truly lost, or simply being brought back to life.
