PUCCINI AND NAPLES: ITINERARIES OF ITALIAN PASSION

The work offers a musical journey through some of the most intense expressions of Italian vocality between the 19th and 20th centuries. The protagonist of the evening is the soprano Carmen Giannattasio, one of the most appreciated artists on the international opera scene, invited to the greatest European and American opera houses, from La Scala to Metropolitan Opera, passing through Royal Opera House and Wiener Staatsoper. The pianist Ernesto Pulignano is vice-director and head of international relations at the "Giuseppe Martucci" Conservatory. The program establishes a link between the great Italian musical theater and the tradition of the Neapolitan song, two universes united by the same expressive intensity, by the central place given to melody, and by the deep bond between word and song. Through famous pages of the operatic repertoire and the Neapolitan tradition, the concert intends to offer the public a journey through the multiple nuances of Italian passion: from theatrical lyricism to the most intimate and sentimental dimension of the song, in a continuous intertwining of vocal elegance, cultural memory, and emotion.
