Melt-Banana (jp) Ervaar de Japanse noise legends with their new record ‘3+5’. Yako and Agata return to their favorite club in Diksmuide for the fourth time! The intense sound of Melt-Banana is exactly what we love: hard, experimental and unique . The band has become an institution for fans, critics and musicians who are impossible to shock with complex structures and abnormal arrangements. The supersonic duo started as a quartet in 1992, but after a few changes, they have officially consisted of vocalist Yasuko O. and guitarist Agata since 2013. No one else is on stage besides them, not even a drummer. But they don't need one at all. Together, they create such a whirlwind of noise, or ‘hypertension sound’, that leaves a lasting impression. Or as John Peel said: “You cannot just listen to Melt-Banana; you must experience Melt-Banana.” In 2013, they caused an international sensation with their record ‘Fetch’ , a post-Fukushima album full of unusual sounds and a surprisingly unique take on pop music, which was called “the best album ever” by Rolling Stone. In 2024, the new record ‘3+5’ was released, on which they dive deeper into pop with an aggressive, violent and at the same time playful approach. Melt-Banana has already collaborated with Tool, Mike Patton, Underworld, Melvins, Lou Reed and John Zorn. Suffice it to say: the appreciation from the good part of the music industry is great.
