Nueva fecha: KYLE DIXON & MICHAEL STEIN PERFORMING THE MUSIC OF 'STRANGER THINGS'

En 2018, el AB acogió por primera vez en Bélgica a los virtuosos tejanos de los sintetizadores Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein (EE. UU.), en el marco del festival BRDCST. ¿La razón? Su banda sonora simplemente magnífica para la serie de ciencia ficción Stranger Things. En otras palabras: uno de los mayores éxitos de audiencia de Netflix en los últimos años. Cabe destacar: al igual que con las bandas sonoras icónicas de Twin Peaks (firmada por Angelo Badalamenti), de El bueno, el feo y el malo (firmada por Ennio Morricone) o incluso la obra de John Carpenter, la música de Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein parece indisociable de Stranger Things. Incluso se podría decir: sin esta banda sonora, no hay Stranger Things. Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein —que, por cierto, representan la mitad del cuarteto de sintetizadores S U R V I V E— han recibido un gran reconocimiento por su trabajo, incluyendo varias nominaciones a los Grammy Awards (Best Score Soundtrack por Visual Media). También ganaron un Emmy Award —el premio de televisión más prestigioso en Estados Unidos, el equivalente a los Óscar (cine), pero para la televisión— por Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. Las críticas de su banda sonora hablaron por sí solas. Pitchfork: “It’s a score that understands the difference between ‘retro’ and ‘timeless,’ opting for a cold, analog precision that feels both old and startlingly new.” En 2019, Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein —junto a Thundercat, SOPHIE, Jungle, James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) y 2manydjs, entre otros— fueron invitados por Nile Rodgers (Chic), quien se encargó de la curaduría del prestigioso festival Meltdown. The Guardian, en una crítica de ****: “The duo quickly prove that they’re about more than just mood-setting for Eleven and co’s antics, leaning heavily into the sonic savagery of their more nightmarish motifs from the show.
