"La seconde Présence" - Sébastien Bouchard - Street-Art

French artist Sébastien Bouchard first discovered West Africa as a child in Dakar, where he developed a passion for drawing and decided to become an artist. After graduating from the Nantes School of Fine Arts in 1996, he explored various creative disciplines in France, including music, graphic design, and fashion design. From the 2000s onwards, he returned to Africa and focused increasingly on painting—specifically in Guinea and later in Senegal, where he established his studio and participated in numerous exhibitions across West Africa and Europe. Since 2010, he has divided his time between France and Senegal, while also developing public art projects through murals and collages. He has also created street art interventions in Brussels during 2024, 2025, and 2026. His artistic work focuses primarily on portraiture, otherness, and individuality. Using small brushstrokes, he creates figures—sometimes hybrid in nature—that blend different eras and cultures, aiming to bridge the gap between popular art and fine art. For the ZazafromBrussels gallery, his series "La seconde Présence" (The Second Presence) features portraits created on paper, canvas, and reclaimed materials; these figures appear to emerge from or float within interior landscapes.
