On September 2, 2018, a fire reduced 90% of the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro to ashes: 20 million objects, indigenous treasures, Afro-Brazilian artifacts, Egyptian relics… Memories gone up in smoke. Faced with this catastrophe, an obsessive question: How to access a heritage that no longer exists? How to "visit" a museum without walls or collections? To answer this, Carolina Bonfim and Flavio Rodrigo collected the intimate memories of those who, one day, crossed paths with an object, a work, a fragment, a corridor of this now-disappeared museum. Through these stories, they trace the contours of a museum that persists in other ways. A living transmission that questions the fragility of memory and the most important social and political rights of our time.
