La Fonderie - Brussels museum of Work and Industry, Brussels
This tour takes you to discover the industrial and working-class history of Brussels. The "Fabrique" district, located between the central boulevards and the canal, is one of the oldest industrial districts in the capital.
Industrialization began there in the first half of the 19th century; it is dense and diversified. One sees breweries, printing houses, paper mills, warehouses... but also numerous workers' dwellings springing up like mushrooms in a relatively small area. Even today, this part of the city center retains many remarkable old industrial buildings that you will discover during the walk.
