Seniors fair with lecture by Prof. Dr. Mathieu Vandenbulcke

On Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June, the Halfdiep will open its doors again for the annual Senior Fair, each time from 13:00 to 17:00. The fair remains faithful to the familiar concept, namely an inspiring mix of relaxation and leisure, combined with a strong focus on care, support, and well-being. Just like previous editions, the fair brings a wide range of stands from both municipal services (leisure, home care, care desk, …), local care partners (such as the hearing bus and demonstrations of aids such as walkers), and associations active within seniors, sports, and culture. It is the place par excellence to ask questions, get advice, or simply discover new things in a cozy atmosphere. In addition to the fair section, you can join an engaging lecture on both days, each with a strong substantive focus on mental and physical well-being as you age. Friday 5 June at 15:30: Prof. dr. Mathieu Vandenbulcke with Ripples in the minds of the elderly Elderly psychiatrist and head of the elderly psychiatry department Mathieu Vandenbulcke offers a unique look into the minds of the elderly. Ripples in the minds of the elderly is a deeply human story about the challenges that come with aging, and offers a path beyond prejudices. Above all, it is a hopeful and positive story about the reality of aging, about the power of medical progress, and the beauty of our brain. He offers answers to questions such as : Where does the line between delusion and reality lie? Does life with dementia still make sense? Why do some elderly people get angry quickly? Is slowing down part of normal aging? The result is a warm look at aging, beyond clichés and prejudices.
