Unique day trip Oosterweel Cruise and Doel

We drive to the Asiadok in Antwerp where the Flandria boat awaits us for a boat trip along the Oosterweel link, also called the ‘construction site of the century’. From the water, you get a unique view of one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. You sail past impressive construction sites and port installations, while you take a look at the future of the city. The guide on board tells you everything about the planned architectural structures. Definitely put this opportunity in your agenda, because you don't experience such an experience every day. After lunch, we drive to Doel, the iconic village that was almost completely abandoned due to the expansion of the Antwerp port. Where hundreds of families once lived, you now find empty houses, quiet streets, and walls full of graffiti and street art. Despite and partly thanks to that desolation, Doel today has a unique, haunting atmosphere. Our local guide tells us about the turbulent history of Doel during a walk.
