The exhibition “RAW” explores the encounter between the feminine and meat consumption, questioning our dietary representations through the prism of bodies and the living. Rooted in a feminist and antispeciesist approach, Toscane ThieXry's practice is inspired by The Sexual Politics of Meat (1990), a work by Carol J. Adams that highlights the links between speciesism and sexism. The author develops the notion of "absent referents" to designate women and animals, whose invisibilization reveals the mechanisms of violence inherent in patriarchal structures. At the crossroads of photography, sculpture, and installation, the artist examines how images shape our desires, our behaviors, and our relationship to the living. The title “RAW” evokes raw meat, blood, and flesh, while suggesting a reversal of gaze: a symbolic butchering of received ideas and a questioning of systems of domination.
