Rosh Hashana klezmer ball + dance workshop

The Jewish Cultural Center invites you to celebrate the New Year 5787 with family and friends by dancing! Enjoy a musical, convivial, and delicious afternoon in a joyful and welcoming atmosphere. A unique and unforgettable experience. The program includes: Dance workshop (adults and children) from 2 pm to 4 pm. Learn/begin traditional Jewish dances, joyful and accessible to all: sher terk khusidl kolomeyka sirba freylekh. The dance and introductory session are open even to those who don't dance (listeners), and will feature different music and dances than those of the main dance. Grand Klezmer Ball from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Musical accompaniment by the "Altland" ensemble. Musicians: Gilles Sadowski – Clarinet / Daniel Rabinovitsj – Percussion / Shaya Feldman – Double Bass / Lucy Grauman – Piano / Alain Lapiower – Guitar. The Yiddish dance workshop and the ball will be led by Pieter Sint Nicolaas. Trained in classical trumpet at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, Pieter Sint Nicolaas has been active on the European scene for over ten years. He performs regularly with various ensembles in Germany, France, and Belgium. He studied Yiddish dance for many years with Zev Feldman, Michael Alpert, Sayumi Yoshida, and Avia Moore. A dance master, he taught klezmer and Yiddish dance at the "Shtetl Saint-Gilles", "KlezNorth", "Fun Dor tsu Dor" and "Generation J" festivals. Refreshments and kosher snacks available.
