Bart Herman - Of travels, revels and roses

Apart from a rare cover, he writes all his songs himself. This puts him in the ranks of Willem Vermandere, Zjef Vanuytsel, Wim De Craene and Kris De Bruyne, with this big difference that musically he goes looking for his inspiration in American folk and country music, rather than in the French chanson. In that, he clearly distinguishes himself from the ‘kleinkunstenaar’ (a frequently and gladly used term). In terms of content, he mainly digs into his own life. This is again very clearly reflected in this new theater show in which he tells how he traveled the world but just as gladly came home, how he swore off the disastrous intoxication of alcohol and nicotine and chose the incomparable intoxication of the theater, and how he likes to sprinkle his audience with rose petals in the form of musical gems of his own making. Bart Herman is more than an evening of Flemish music. He invented his own genre and is therefore a welcome guest on the stages of the Lage Landen.
