Here is a caustic and delightful comedy that takes place in the heart of a family imbroglio and in the middle of the Avignon festival.
Because it is during the festival that his mother interrupts, with boldness, the performances of his Commedia dell’arte show.
Reason invoked: he plays with a mask! No one will ever recognize him and, never, will he become the star she dreamed of!
Her son, so beautiful, and who has so much talent, what despair, what loss, what a waste!
Fabio Zenoni tells us with self-mockery and tenderness the adventure of a boy who followed the desire of others until he got lost in the mirage and who returns to us tonight, a little older, but washed of everything, and ready to face mountains.
On stage, one after another, will succeed a megalomaniac director, a cheap casting director, a revolutionary stage manager, vegetables on the run, a contemporary art performer and... an audacious mother ready to do anything to save her kid from the mediocre life he chooses for himself.
With and without a mask, Fabio Zenoni gives himself over, and pays tribute to the wanderings, the detours, the heroic childhoods and the makeshift buoys, to the fathers and mothers who fled or who survived. Everything depends on the point of view. Everything depends on the blind spot of the years that pass and that transform the story, a smile, a memory, an entire life.
