Roman Borisov & Quatuor Modigliani

As in the previous season, Roman Borisov opens this edition of the Flagey Piano Days. This year, he launches the festival with a distinctive programme that looks beyond the piano: the first half of the concert is a solo recital, after which Borisov is joined on stage by the Quatuor Modigliani. He opens the evening with a selection of Claude Debussy’s Préludes and Nikolai Medtner’s intense and virtuosic Sonata tragica, a work that resounds like a call of fate. Together with the Quatuor Modigliani, he concludes the concert with César Franck’s Piano Quintet in F minor, a work of extraordinary passion that pushes classical form to its limits.
