Ferm Partner | Feel like leaving the beaten path in Antwerp and letting yourself be surprised by the dark side of this beautiful city? Welcome to the Schipperskwartier for a fascinating, relaxing 'Amour Payé' walk, spiced with a laugh and a tear and also some spicy pepper. What can you expect? Marleen Struyf departs in the historic heart of Antwerp and wanders through narrow streets and old alleys in what is also called the ‘Red Light District’. You will meet 'book-wives' and 'idle women' and listen to the role the church played in this fascinating neighborhood. But you will also discover life in the current red-light district with its contemporary sex workers and their social status. In short, Marleen not only immerses you in the rich history of what was once a bustling, working-class sailor's neighborhood, but she also shows you how they want to make this neighborhood pleasant, safe, and livable today. The walk ends on the roof of the MAS (Museum aan de Stroom), where we enjoy the beautiful view and/or the romantic ‘lights of the Scheldt’. More info and registration
