What happens if we start thinking about Ghent as a nature reserve instead of a city? What kind of alternative imaginings do we arrive at then? What seems to be right, and what seems to be strange? On this film night, we explore the living environment from the perspective of creatures with whom we share our nature reserve. Through film fragments from various cities and landscapes, we discover how animals and plants find their place in a human-dominated environment. We invite participants to start looking at Ghent from a radical form of empathy. Does the city (a nature reserve) belong only to humans – or is it a more-than-human form of coexistence? In conversation with each other, we discover new ways to live together in such a multi-species community that is Natuurgebied Gent . We will watch Natura Urbana: The Brachen of Berlin and Seagulls Scream on the Weekend and then engage in a conversation with the audience about the film.
