1937. Struck by the Spanish Civil War, Karmele and her family flee the Pays Basque to take refuge in France. The young nurse joins the Basque cultural embassy in exile, which seeks support through music and dance. She falls in love with Txomin, a professional trumpeter, and the couple continues their journey for some time in Venezuela; the couple returns to their homeland to fight against the dictatorship, hoping to recover everything that was taken from them.
