Male strength or female power? Storytelling performance ‘Untamable’ takes over the Arenberg ANTWERP – On Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2026, the Grote Zaal of the Arenberg Theater will transform into a vibrant melting pot of stories and music. With the performance ‘Untamable / Female power or male strength?’, storyteller Katty Wtterwulghe brings a spectacular ode to the balance between the masculine and the feminine. She is flanked by top international storytellers, rousing Japanese taiko drums, and the Virago Symfonic Orchastra. How much woman is in a man? How masculine can a woman be? And above all: what do we do with those powers? In Untamable , the Antwerp storyteller Katty Wtterwulghe searches for answers. With her characteristic dynamism and a good dose of humor, she weaves world stories and personal experiences into an inspiring whole that stimulates the imagination. International allure and symphonic grandeur It doesn't stop at words alone. For this unique afternoon, Wtterwulghe shares the stage with top British storytellers Nell Phoenix and Emily Hennessey . The performance gains an extra dimension through the powerful beats of the Taiko group IKEZUKI from Mortsel and the impressive sounds of the Virago Symphonic Orchestra , led by the well-known conductor Pascale Van Os (known from Maestro Degand on VRT). Tradition meets spectacle Untamable brings the ancient tradition of storytelling to the big stage. The result is a connecting afternoon full of live music and stories that touch, confront, and invite you to push boundaries. A must-see for anyone who loves powerful performing arts and new perspectives.
