Eco-garden days - 'Hof Ter Lieverstede'

On an ancient farm site in a valuable protected landscape, a special living and gardening project has grown over the past few years. The farm was renovated with respect for its history into a residential courtyard for twelve families who are jointly responsible for the management and future of their living environment. Seven years ago, the orchard and the green structure were given a fresh start. Since then, the residents have taken the green management into their own hands. In the vegetable garden, orchard, fruit garden, and ecologically valuable grassland, they work based on permaculture principles, with attention to biodiversity, a living soil, and climate resilience. On Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, the domain will be opened as part of the Ecotuindagen (Eco-Garden Days). Visitors can explore the grounds freely or join guided tours at set times. Saturday afternoon: Guided tours by Filip Jonckheere with the main theme being the connection between ecological grassland management and biodiversity Sunday morning: Guided tours by Velt teacher Wouter Demey, with the main themes being the high-stem orchard and the fruit garden Continuous workshop 'Snacks with wild foraging' by Velt teacher Lieve Seyssens Sunday afternoon: Guided tours by Velt teacher Johan Deblaere, with the main theme being the vegetable garden The story of the farm is also told through a photo exhibition: its past and its transformation. In the orchard, there is space to relax with a homemade pastry and a drink.
