Photography between gaze and feeling

A photo taken from an observation seems to claim something objective: the photographer does not intervene, watches from a distance, and lets things happen. You choose a focus, a moment – and click. Yet, you make choices every time. Where do you stand? How do you frame? Where does the light come from? How close or how far do you get? What catches your attention? With every technical intervention, the image shifts. You direct the gaze. You show your fascination. What remains of that so-called objective reality? Voor Yasmina Besseghir photography is never just portraying or capturing 'beautiful' images. Photography is also translating feelings into images. It is questioning emotions, situations, or events while simultaneously cherishing or processing them. Where words fall short, it uses images: to heal, to communicate. During these sessions, you move between both poles: observing and feeling, distance and proximity, objective and subjective. We work alternately outside and in the studio. You experiment with parameters, with sharpness and framing, but also with what touches you. Your photos as a mirror of your gaze and inner world. Back in the studio, we place images side by side, share observations, and let emotions play a role in the conversation.
