Jong Gewei and HTISA - TEAR DOWN THE WALLS

What happens when art is given a full place within vocational and technical education? With SLOOP DE MUREN (TEAR DOWN THE WALLS), Jong Gewei and HTISA (Hoger Technisch Instituut Sint-Antonius) are seeking an answer to that question for the third year in a row. During an intensive trajectory, students from the B-stream searched for their own voice and way of expression through theater workshops. This year, their view of the world is central. In small groups, we went together to places that are meaningful to them. During those walks, conversations arose about what occupies them, scares them, makes them angry, or gives them hope. From those encounters, a shared dream world grew, full of desires, fears, and expectations for the future. But how do you recognize the difference between a dream and a nightmare? And when do you choose to face reality? On Friday, June 5, the young people will share the result of this trajectory during a public presentation at VIERNULVIER. Do not expect a classic performance, but a lively collection of future dreams, brought by young people who often get too little artistic space within the current education system.
