Ingrown hair | Women, hair and their bodies

Does women's bodies really belong to them? And what if we went through stories of hair and hair removal to explore this question? In the company of Estelle Brochard and her gestured conference Le Poil embodied, let's take the time to laugh about it, to be surprised and to question ourselves before debating it together. Hide that hair from me that I cannot see! Why does female hair so often arouse embarrassment or rejection? Why does it seem so difficult to associate hairiness, femininity, and beauty? From puberty, many girls learn that their hairiness must remain invisible. Yet nothing imposes hair removal, but social norms and the gaze of others can give it a character of obviousness. Behind this normalized practice hide broader questions: what is it to be feminine? Who defines the criteria of beauty? How far are we free to dispose of our bodies? Between narrative, humor, clowning, history, and sociology, Estelle Brochard simply opens up the reflection. The conference will be followed by a joyful exchange with everyone.
