Nightjar

Walk with us along the spoil tip, to a spot on the open heath. There we will settle down and wait... The nightjar becomes active at dusk. Once you have heard it call, you will recognize it immediately. When it skims over our heads, it also has a very recognizable silhouette. What kind of birds or bats will we see fluttering? We return through the dark. A flashlight is useful, possibly a sweater for when it gets cooler. If you wish, also bring something to sit on.
