The rise of the Art Deco coincides with the first great golden age of cinemas, with an intense influx of people to cinemas all over the world. In In Brussel and its suburbs, there are dozens of halls. In the center, at the beginning of the sound film era, large and luxurious exclusive halls emerged such as the Plaza, the Variétés, the Métropole, and the Eldorado. More modest but elegant halls such as Studio Arenberg of Cinéma des Galeries focus on a more refined program. Going to the cinema is a simple pleasure, accessible to everyone. Many of these iconic cinemas have been given a new purpose today. During our walk, we will take you past the most imaginative cinemas in the center of Brussels — sometimes still visible, sometimes hidden behind another facade, or transformed for another function.
