Drawing on their own experiences, they create a sensory performance in which queer imagination, mental resilience, and rural sounds converge. Each of them has their own reason to lower their gaze.\n\nAs a farmer’s daughter, Melissa Mabesoone witnessed how the soil literally sustained her livelihood. This holds true for all of us, but in a hurried society, that connection is often buried. To rediscover this direct bond with the earth, Louis Vanhaverbeke turned to farming. As a Black musician, Farida Amadou digs into the roots of the blues genre and seeks a new kind of rural music that defies clichés.\n\nSoil Biographies is a hybrid landscape of sound, movement, and transformation.
