Snow has a unique way of creating wonders. It invites us to play, of course, but also to dream, imagine, observe and discover. The pleasure of touch, the sensation of cold: white takes over the screen. Blending fiction, imagination and documentary testimonies, this programme tells the story of children's first experiences of snow, seen through their eyes. Programme: Trouvé by Juliette Baily (4’): While walking through the snow, Anna encounters an unexpected new playmate... Bain de neige en Norvège by Pascale Hecquet (4’): Thaïs and Thomas spent Christmas in a rather unusual wooden house. They had to break the ice on the lake to get water and light candles as soon as darkness fell. But what wouldn't you do to enjoy a snow bath in Norway? La Grange de Noëlle by Pascale Hecquet (6’): Noëlle is decorating her Christmas tree when something taps at the window. It's a cat. Outside, it's snowing and bitterly cold, but Noëlle's father is allergic to cat hair. To help the cat, Noëlle invites it to take shelter in the barn. De la crème solaire en hiver by Pascale Hecquet (4’): Winter is Amandine's favourite season. Not only is it the season of her birthday, it's also the season of snow! When you're seven, you know how to make a sturdy snowman and avoid falling off your sledge... But there's one thing you really hate: putting on sunscreen in winter... Bonhommes by Cecilia Marreiros Marum (9’): A little boy builds his snowman, putting all his energy and hope into it. But the snowman cannot quite live up to the child's expectations, nor withstand the changing weather of life... Bonhommes uses multiple frames on screen to explore the experience of separation with humour. Raconte-moi l'hiver by Pascale Hecquet (4’): Who hasn't dreamed of being a little mouse, slipping under school desks to listen to children talk about their lives? Step into a classroom of seven-year-olds and rediscover winter through their eyes... Esquisses sur glace by Marion Auvin (4’): Lou and Marius are having fun building a snowman in the street. But Mum calls them back inside: Marius has to practise his clarinet and Lou has homework to do! Pfff... But wait... incredible! Outside, the snowman has moved.
