With the Dijleland guides you discover a lesser-known part of Kortenberg and that is exactly why it is so fascinating. We explore the plateau between the railway, the departure center in Steenokkerzeel (Transit Center 127bis), and the airport. A lot of history has been written in this environment: from remains from the Bronze Age and traces of the Romans and the early Middle Ages to WWII and the development of the airport. The departure center and the repatriation of rejected asylum seekers, and even chicory cultivation, also leave their marks here. Enough, therefore, to spice up the walk of about 5 km along the way with fascinating (and sometimes less pleasant) stories. And in the meantime, we regularly look up to spot planes!
