Orchard Sessions: Bwana (solo) + Cloud Nova Double bill with promising local talent. BWANA (solo) Bwana is the shoegaze-indie pop project of Friedel Dufait . Think Slowdive meets Girl in Red meets PJ Harvey, but mostly herself. With her powerful voice and floating guitar lines, she creates an atmosphere full of melancholy. The ‘Bwana-esque’ sound translates effortlessly to vast festival fields, without losing any intimacy. Within the music scene, she has been making waves since 2022 with appearances at Humo’s Rock Rally and Sound Track . Pukkelpop programmer Eppo Janssen called her “a name to watch.” In 2024, she became the winner of De Nieuwe Lichting at Studio Brussel , and since then you can see her on many renowned stages and festivals. Claudia Rhode (singer, harpist, composer) and Ode Maertens (pianist, composer) come from different musical worlds, but together they effortlessly form a whole. The music is influenced by artists like Raye, Aurora, Banks, and Bon Iver, but also by classical works. They also draw a lot of inspiration from nature. Sounds of water, wind, or leaves are transformed into ambient layers, beats, or voices. This creates a harmony between the organic and the synthetic, between classical and pop – an ode to nature in all its forms. No better place to discover that than in our natural oasis along the IJzer.
