Class struggle and queer solidarity

Between 1984 and 1985, British miners went on strike (National Union of Mineworkers) against the dismantling of the British coal mining industry. About 202,000 workers took part in this one-year-long strike movement. In this period of open class struggle, the British queer community took to the streets under the slogan “Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners” to support the workers. Together they fought one battle against the same enemy: the bourgeois government that sent the police, their bloodhounds, after the queer community to terrorize them, and after striking workers to tear them apart. The members of LGSM supported the workers from an explicitly socialist vision of class solidarity. JCB Antwerp and Masereelfonds active Edegem are therefore holding a film evening and training on this solidarity movement. Everyone is very welcome
