The maritime district

The constructions of the Tour and Taxis site and the extra-muros port at the beginning of the 20th century upended the urban geography of Brussels. They gave birth to a new neighborhood, still called today the Maritime neighborhood. National and international companies quickly and massively established themselves there. They benefited there, among other things, from easy access to the canal, rail, and road.
