Guided city visit 'Langs de Vlietjes'

In the 16th century, Mechelen consisted of 13 small islands connected by 43 small bridges. De Dijle wound through the city and branched into a web of small waterways that we call 'vlietjes' (small canals). Eye-catchers include the Heergracht, the Duivelsvlietje, the Groen Waterke, the Koolvliet, etc. We will walk for about an hour and a half through the city under the guidance of a city guide who will wait for us at 10 AM at the Toerismebureau van Mechelen. Advance registration, no later than June 3, is necessary because the group is limited to 20 people. Register at René Struyf van Pasar Dilbeek-Centrum at 0473 52 17 72. After the guided tour, we will eat our self-brought picnic in café Den Biechtstoel. Drinks to be paid for yourself. Subsequently, we will take a nature walk of about 7.5 km in the vicinity of the 'Den Battelaar' nature reserve. Choice possible for a shorter route of about 4.5 km. After the walk, we will conclude, and everyone will go their own way with some beautiful memories.
