✩✩✩✩✩ World-class artists return to the Missy Sippy Clubshows. On the bill: Guy Davis. An absolute giant of American blues, exceptionally joined by The Nerak Roth Patterson Band. This October marks the first time in almost fifteen years that Guy Davis tours the Benelux with a full American band. The two-time Grammy nominee is joined by Tony Coleman, longtime drummer for B. B. As the son of legendary actors and civil rights activists Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, Davis grew up in the heart of the American civil rights movement. His father served as master of ceremonies at the historic March on Washington where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. Blues, folk, roots, spoken word and world music all find their way into his work. Armed with guitar, banjo and a warm stage presence, he tells stories about life, history and the people often left out of it.
Davis received the Keeping The Blues Alive Award and has been repeatedly nominated by The Blues Foundation for Acoustic Artist of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year and Acoustic Album of the Year. Songs such as God's Gonna Make Things Over, about the 1921 Tulsa massacre, show why he is held in such high regard around the world.
