From memories of childhood dances and their intense links with music, Soa Ratsifandrihana extrapolates this g r oo v e where the states of the body unfold while listening to the sounds of today, to the transformations that constitute it. Diasporas and mutations, hybridity and contradictions irrigate the art of Soa Ratsifandrihana, back with this first choreographic solo installed in the heart of a quadrifrontal setup. Structured between twilight and light, between matte silence and chiseled sounds – from glitch to electro jazz, while venturing into the organic meanders of hip hop aesthetics, g r oo v e articulates an evolutionary dynamic. Exposition, acceleration, transition, construction of a rhythm, development: to each time its atmosphere, its tempo, its grammar. Through the whole runs the greedy pleasure of embracing space, of appropriating the moment, of summoning moving references there – the Afindrafindrao born in the 19th century in Madagascar, the Madison of the sixties, the popping stemming from funk – crossed, assembled, stirred in a momentum. A concentrated and playful journey, at the confluence of observation and action, to meet the groove in every soul.
