The Old Demeuldre-Coché factory

dim. 28 juin 2026 · 14:15
Ancienne manufacture de porcelaine Demeuldre-Coché, Brussels
€20
This former porcelain factory, founded in 1830, produced many decorative porcelains and earthenwares intended for Brussels buildings by renowned architects such as Victor Horta and Paul Saintenoy. The tiles that adorn the facade of the former Old England shops (current Museum of Instruments de Musique) are a fine example of this. In an eclectic style, the imposing, highly crafted facade is decorated with polychrome ceramics. The large ground-floor display windows reveal the interior of the shop and its woodwork decor. Old glazed ceramic panels, including three remarkable allegories signed by Isidore De Rudder (1897) - Harmony, Color, and Measure - still bear witness to the know-how of the former establishment, which secured the collaboration of renowned artists. The former factory now houses the TALK C.E.C art gallery, an innovative multidisciplinary space that divides its activities by combining culture and discovery. The entrance ticket is included in the price of the visit.
