Finissage "Hats" - Quinn Vermeersch

Come discover the drawings of Quinn Vermeersch during this finissage in the presence of the artist. In the exhibition “Hats”, Quinn depicts the Brussels universe through ink drawings, sketches, and oil paintings: a mixture of different languages, attitudes, and cultures. Through metaphors, Quinn Vermeersch attempts to make recognizable the time spent in Schaerbeek, Molenbeek, Uccle, and Ixelles for those who look at the big city with a certain mistrust. As a West Fleming passing through, having grown up in the Westhoek, Brussels offered an alternative to Flanders. Having grown up as a child of self-employed people, a message is at the heart of his work: as different as we are by our origins and our paths, meeting and recognition are one of our most powerful weapons against polarization. Quinn Vermeersch slips, for this performance, into the skin of the Prime Minister of a fictional trilingual kingdom. According to his vision, drastic savings are necessary; for him, we have returned to the era of “bankruptcy jazz”, as described by Paul van Ostaijen. Free, without registration.
