Reading club: political theory and feminist philosophy

do 25 jun 2026 · 19:00
Passa Porta, Brussels
In this reading club, we focus on important works within political philosophy (with a focus on feminist and queer theory), which can form a springboard for our own thinking. There is absolutely no prior knowledge required. 23/04: “Down Girl, The Logic of Misogyny” – Kate Manne Feministisch philosopher Kate Manne analyzes the relationship between sexism, misogyny, and the patriarchy in “Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny.” 28/05: “Undoing the Demos: Neoliberalism’s Stealth Revolution” – Wendy Brown In Undoing the Demos: Neoliberalism’s Stealth Revolution examines political philosopher Wendy Brown how neoliberal rationality dismantles not only democracy but also our capacity to think democratically. 25/06: “Are Prisons Obsolete?” – Angela Davis In “Are Prisons Obsolete?” activist and philosopher Angela Davis argues for a far-reaching transformation of the legal system and the abolition of the prison system. It is expected that participants read the books in advance. If this is not a financial possibility, contact us for a solution. The workshops are guided by Margot Delaet. Margot is a poet, translator, and photographer. She obtained a master's in philosophy and wrote a thesis on the importance of political imagination. She is one of Curieus’ Fresh Faces and a member of the feminist makers collective Hyster-x. Have a proposal for a book yourself? Pass it on via mail janne@masereelfonds.be
