What starts as an ordinary residents' meeting about replacing the apartment building's elevator quickly gets out of hand. When it is mentioned that one of the owners wants to rent out their apartment to a colleague who uses medication for mental health issues, tensions run high. The discussion degenerates into a bitter disagreement in which no one is spared. Commentaar Regisseur Santiago Requejo based this sharp and biting comedy on his own 2021 short film of the same name, which was awarded at several film festivals at the time and was on the Oscar shortlist for Beste Live Action Kortfilm. Nevertheless, Requejo still had many new ideas to add to his story, and the film feels in every way like the completion of his original vision. The characters are simultaneously funny, caricatured, and all too human, and the absurd humorous situations are reminiscent of the best work of Paolo Genovese.
