Born and raised in West Texas, Amanda Shires began her musical career at the age of 15 playing violin with the legendary Texas Playboys. Since then, she has shown nuanced songwriting and fearless originality through a series of critically acclaimed solo albums. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with artists such as John Prine and Justin Townes Earle, and was honored in 2017 by the Americana Music Association as “Emerging Artist of the Year”. Amanda is also the founder of The Highwomen, the revolutionary supergroup bringing together Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Brandi Carlile. Her 2022 album, Take It Like A Man, written and recorded during lockdown, was widely praised for its sincere and introspective narrative. With guest vocals from Maren Morris and Brittney Spencer, this album is a bold exploration of a woman's life in turbulent times. Her latest album, Nobody's Girl, released in September 2025, is a bold exploration of emotional boundaries. Far from a simple breakup album, it questions the broken heart itself, deconstructing every moment of loss to rebuild something stronger in its place, thus continuing her trajectory of lyrical brilliance after seven previous albums that defy genres.
