Riverside concert: Two Systems

Two Systems   Lowie Vercammen and Louis De Backere both studied accordion at the Conservatorium van Gent under Philippe Thuriot. After graduating, they joined forces and formed the accordion duo Two Systems. In the Big Little Music Competition chamber music competition in 2025, they took home both the jury prize and the audience award. With a passion for both timeless classics and lesser-heard contemporary compositions, they take their listeners on a journey through a thoughtful and contemporary program. Nature is central to The Vier Jaargetijden by Vivaldi, in the contemporary reworking by Max Richter. This minimalist-inspired version is complemented by Encounters by Uroš Rojko, a contemporary work that lets the accordion be heard in a broad and versatile sound perspective.
